MOONSHADOW CRUISES SUMMER E-NEWSLETTER
CRUISE OF THE SUMMER : BROUGHTON ISLAND NATIONAL PARK CRUISE
If you're looking for a full day of cruising, snorkelling, swimming and exploring you can't go past Moonshadow Cruises Broughton Island Cruise.
Situated eight nautical miles NE of Nelson Bay and part of the Myall Lakes National Park, Broughton is an island of sandy beaches, volcanic peaks and unique natural beauty. The island was first recorded by Captain Cook in May 1770 and was named in honour of Captain William Broughton who chartered the island in 1795 during his exploration voyage of the Pacific.
The journey out to Broughton is a treat in itself, with passengers enjoying the sights of an abundance of wildlife such as common dolphins, sea turtles, fairy penguins and seals whilst cruising out past Tomaree and Yacaaba headlands and the outer islands.
After mooring in tranquil Esmeralda Cove passengers are served a Ploughman's style buffet lunch before venturing onto the island. Whilst ashore, passengers can choose from a range of activities such as snorkelling, relaxing on the beach, fish feeding or joining an island discovery walk.
On the return journey, passengers have the opportunity to ride in the boomnet and see common oceanic and bottlenose dolphins.
This cruise really is the complete package and the perfect way to spend a summer's day. The Broughton Island Cruise operates every Sunday plus Tuesdays & Thursday during school holidays. The boat departs at 10:00am from Nelson Bay Public Wharf and the cruise is 6.5 hours in duration. Cost is $75 Adult, $35 Child (4-12 years), $65 Concession and $185 Family.
