 After a rest in the Antarctic feeding on masses of krill, the Humpback whales would be feeling regenerated and starting to think about heading North for Winter.
Moonshadow V set out to sea for our first whale watch cruise on 16th May 2009 with daily cruises operating through until mid November. After a very successful season last year we are looking forward to smooth seas and some spectacular Humpback whale sightings in 2009.
 Port Stephens is the ideal location for whale watching with our coastline sitting right next to the ‘whale highway,’ bringing the whales close by on both their Northern and Southern migration as they travel along the warmer currents. And with our proximity to Newcastle airport, Sydney, Newcastle, the Central Coast and the Hunter Valley, Port Stephens is easily accessible for a Winter escape. The whales choose to holiday here, so why don’t you?

While the season didn't officially begin until the 27th May, Moonshadow V began cruising on the 16th May and the whales did not disappoint! We have spotted whales on 75% of our first four cruises and even had a great breach from a beautiful adult Humpback on Saturday 16th May. Our Skippers and crew are keen to take you whale watching this year!
